DIY Collage: "Books" Example, C

ADDITIONAL STEPS FOR THE “BOOK LOVERS” COLLAGE DEMONSTRATION:

STEP FOUR: A 12” x 12” x 1-1/2” birch board was selected for this project. Start laying out the printed strips and glueing to board.

Works best to coat both the board surface and the back of the paper strip; I use Golden Matte Medium as the “glue” and it will also be used as a coating later on. After applying the medium to a strip, press lightly with finger to flatten and position the paper (you will have some movement, slippage); gently “slide” strip as needed to get it into place. Place wax paper on top and press flat with finger (and/or small ball of paper towel); this process will expose any extra glue around the edges; remove excess glue with paper towel. Lay a new clean piece of wax paper on top and press again to remove all bubbles and obtain good adhesion to the board.

Continue covering the board surface with the strips, altering widths and lengths, determining the design/pattern you wish to create. Wrap around the edges as you go when it works out that way, but any uncovered edges can be completed in a later step.
